PPGCB Launches Second Stage of the IC Jr 2025 Project
On Friday, April 11th, the ten Junior Scientific Initiation (IC Jr) students — high school students from public schools in Goiânia who were awarded CNPq scholarships through the PPGCB Scientific Dissemination Fair project — began the second stage of their internship, visiting the laboratories of PPGCB researchers where they will carry out their scientific initiation projects. This laboratory visit phase will continue until May 18th.
After this period, each student will choose one of the laboratories visited during stage 2. In total, ten laboratories are participating, with one student assigned to each.
In the third stage, the students will develop their respective research projects, and the results will be presented during the 11th Scientific Dissemination and Science Popularization Fair for Education — an annual event organized by the PPGCB and held in November, alongside CONPEEX (the UFG Teaching, Research and Extension Congress).
Each year, CNPq supports this initiative by awarding scientific initiation scholarships to high school students. The program is divided into three stages: in the first, selected students take part in the theoretical course "Research Methodology and Scientific Initiation Project Development," taught by PPGCB faculty members over a two-month period.
In the second stage, students visit the laboratories where they may carry out their projects. Once a laboratory is chosen, the third stage begins, during which the students develop their research in line with the advisor’s research line. At the end, the results are presented during the Fair.
